What is Mimic Lens?

Mimic lens is a short gamejam game that myself and 6 other developers.

This project taught me a lot about working in a team as well as getting to use different skill sets within Unity as well as working with Github for the first time.

This was for the Dungeon Crawler Jam 2024 with Valentine Stokes Corrin WilsonYasmina FadelPeter Fox, Amy and Jay Andrade-Hunt!

Brainstorming

Coming up with the idea was the hardest part, as we were working with 8 people on the Gamejam, we had 8 people giving ideas.

We ended up going with Yasmina Fadel's idea

The
Idea

Core Concept

You are a zoologist studying a creature thought to be extinct. You tracked them down to an obscure temple but flora and fauna are all a bit strange. Taking a photo of the creature in question will prove its existence, but it seems the one you are looking for is not the only one to have made these ruins its home. 

 

There are multiple doppelgangers displaying slightly different sounds, behavior and visuals to your target. Researchers before you have failed, leaving behind clues for you to figure out which is a doppelganger.

The team used Figma to plan and figure out the puzzles, level design and amount of sprites needed.

For the release we uploaded it to two different sites, Itch.io to be entered into the Dungeon jam 2024 but also on Newgrounds, where it got on the front page!
